ABOUT

Originally from Hermitage, Pennsylvania, Matthew has made his life about Music, Church, and Production.  His favorite musical toy was a light up Muppets keyboard when he was little, and Matthew learned to follow the keys, and associate their names with the colored dots on the music page.   (He found an old yellow Muppet Keyboard years later on EBAY and snagged it up as as a collectible)

Matthew's Mom and Dad purchased a rundown bar piano from the American Legion and had it re-furbished so he could take piano lessons.  Matthew grew and learned, and at one point dressed up as the Phantom of the Opera and did a video TAPE concert in his living room.

From there he began playing and singing at his home parish in Sharon, Pa, Saint Stanislaus Kostka, and also provided his services to Saint Joseph Church, Sharon PA and directed their Life Teen Music Ministry for awhile.  Someone was visiting one day from St. James Church in Warren, Ohio, and ended up inviting Matthew to apply for their choir director position, which he accepted.  He spent a few years at the parish, during which time he recorded the CD "Spirit of Christmas", and the final track, "O, Holy Night" features the St. James Choir that he directed.

During his undergraduate college years he studied classical piano as a major, and took additional studies in organ and voice, performing in numerous recitals, and opera department productions.  He was the music director for a short while at Mary Mother of Hope Parish in New Castle, Pennsylvania, and had the opportunity to work and perform with Grammy-Award winning composer/musician, Fr. Jerry Kaywell.

Matthew completed his Master of Music Degree at the Cleveland Institute of Music in 2008, during which time he was an assistant pianist and vocalist at St. Gabriel Church in Mentor Ohio, and upon completion of his degree, accepted the Director of Music Position at St. Felictas Church in Euclid, Ohio which eventually merged with another parish becoming St. John of the Cross.

In 2010, Matthew became the Director of Music at Our Lady of Peace in Cleveland, Ohio where he would remain for the next seven years working with Fr. Gary Chmura.  During this time, Matthew was married to Erin (diLauro), and they fostered two children, Vincent and Nicholas, whom they eventually adopted.  During his time at Our Lady of Peace, Matthew released a Christmas CD titled, "A Little Christmas", which featured a jazz style of piano, and ensemble of some favorite Christmas songs.

In 2017, Matthew and Erin moved a bit south in Cuyahoga County to Strongsville, Ohio when Matthew became the Director of Music at St. Ambrose Parish in Brunswick, Ohio, which was home to about 5,800 Catholic families.  During this time he grew in many different areas of composition, praise and worship, graphic design and video/livestream production, especially when the pandemic COVID-19 shut down operations.

Matthew had the privilege of being a Music Director, working along side Fr. Bob Stec, creator of the THE FEST, a yearly, one day Christian Festival of Faith, Family, and Fun held in Wickliffe Ohio with 45,000 attendees in early August.  He worked with the FEST Band and a volunteer Choir of sometimes around one hundred singers from around the state of Ohio for the FEST MASS held at the end of the festival.  In 2019, the FEST Band and Choir were very grateful to perform with renowned Christian Artist, Matt Maher during the FEST Mass.

During the Pandemic of COVID-19, Matthew returned home to Our Lady of Peace in Cleveland, Ohio where he is the Director of Music, Production and Communications for the Parish.  The era of the pandemic pushed many activities and evangelization to the online world, and Matthew continues to create media, worship, and so much more as we all continue in this new era.
